NATIONAL ICT ROADSHOW
The Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) ICT Committee had convened a meeting on 8th May 2010 at 10.30 a.m. at ACCCIM Meeting Room, Kuala Lumpur The National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) and ACCCIM will organize a ICT Roadshow known as the ICT Month which is scheduled to begin in July, 2010. PIKOM, a national body who had been organizing the PC fairs twice a year in various city and town in Malaysia. The fairs had been very successful and attracted a large crowd. Having more than 70,000 SME & SMI memberships, ACCCIM & PIKOM co-operation would be a great service platform for software and hardware. Moreover, the government through its agency, MOSTI also supported PIKOM’s initiative. During the ICT Roadshow, there will be 15 sessions of ICT talks and seminars of which first session will be held in KL. ACCCIM wanted all State Chamber of Commerce committed in jointly organize the roadshow in their respective states. PIKOM will fix the date and venue, arrange for the speakers and the program, our State Chamber of Commerce will be responsible to solicit as much as possible the participants for the roadshow. The schedule for the various sessions will be given to the State Chamber of Commerce later. We have inform ACCCIM ICT Committee that PCCC had organized activities a least twice a year, and it would be integrated into such activities. The next ICT roadshow in Penang will be held in July 2010, the final date and venue will be reaffirmed. IT ADOPTION & PROBLEM Many SME & SMI has been slow in ICT adoption. This committee will attempt to enhance such adoption by organizing dialogue to instill ICT knowledge and awareness and educate the SME & SMI so that they would be able to appreciate the advantage to be gained from ICT. Specific problems on software and hardware needed more attention. Cases such as software provider going out of business and inconsequence, no continuous support for the software. The issues of authentication of service provider has been discussed may alleviate such concern. Adoption of cloud computing will also enhance ICT adoption. |
