Press Conference on " Establishment of PDCMC”

The purpose of this press conference today is to introduce the newly established Working Committee of the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce, i.e. PCCC Property Development, Construction & Management Committee (PDCMC).

The establishment of this Working Committee is hailed as a milestone in the 112-year history of the Chamber. It is a breakthrough. We believe that the Chamber’s role must move with the times. In other words, while we hold on to our established roles, we should also pay attention to the changes of current situation and play a more diversified role. At present, organizations which could co-opt different races and cross-industry stakeholders to gather together are not yet found in Penang.

In this respect, it is the unshirkable duty of the Chamber to shoulder the task by inviting NGOs and all relevant industry leaders in the state regardless of ethnic groups or politics to participate in the working committee. Under the umbrella of PCCC, we will work together on a common platform and contribute to the future development of Penang State.

All the members of this Working Committee will be regarded as PCCC associate members. The Chamber is strengthened when all members play their roles by expending the network and jointly promote the development of Penang in all aspects.

This entity will have 3 advisors, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Tan Kok Ping, Dato’ Seri Choot Ewe Seng and Dato’ Ar. Richard Jong East Full. It will be headed by myself and participation of industry leaders in the Property Sector, many belonging to associations & NGOs in the industry. Our perceived strength will not only be with various stakeholders, but under the umbrella of PCCC, we have representatives at both local level (the PCCC has one local councilor each in MPPP & MPSP).At the national level we have our representation in The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), a national body. Through these representations, this body will be able to gather crucial views for better local strategies.

This body will not only target the big developers but also smaller SMEs, like budget hotel, office, commercial & kindergarten players together with the lawyers, architects, bankers, accountants, property agents, etc that offer crucial services for the continued and sustainable growth for the future Malaysian children of Penang. both local level (the PCCC has one local councilor each in MPPP & MPSP).At the national level we have our representation in The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), a national body.
